Heartsaver Pediatric/Infant First Aid & CPR/AED

The American Heart Association Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED course is designed to meet the regulatory requirements for child care workers in all 50 United States. It teaches child care providers and others to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. It covers the four steps of first aid and first aid skills such as finding the problem, stopping bleeding, bandaging and using an Epinephrine pen, as well as child CPR AED, infant CPR and optional modules in adult CPR AED, child mask, infant mask and Asthma Care Training for Child Care Providers.

Course Includes: Pediatric First Aid Basics Illnesses and injuries (topics include but are not limited to) Bleeding and bandaging Allergic reactions How to use an epinephrine pen Asthma Drowning Bites and stings Burns CPR AED and choking CPR and AED for children How to help a choking child CPR for infants How to help a choking infant CPR and AED for adults (optional) How to help a choking adult (optional)

Course Length: 7.0 Hours

Certification is good for two (2) Years- Upon successful completion, CPR & First Aid Card is granted. For those who require a certificate, available upon request.

NAEMT’s Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC) course focuses on the care of sick and injured children, addressing a full spectrum of emergency illnesses, injuries and scenarios that an EMS practitioner might encounter. The course provides an in-depth understanding of the pathophysiology of the most common pediatric emergency issues, and stresses critical thinking skills to help practitioners make the best decisions for their patients. EPC uses the Pediatric Assessment Triangle (PAT) as a tool to help EMS practitioners rapidly and accurately assess pediatric patients and incorporates family centered care throughout all scenarios. Training encompasses lectures, hands-on skills practice and small group critical thinking discussions.

  • Cardiac emergencies
  • Child abuse and neglect
  • Common medical emergencies
  • The importance of family

Pediatric International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)

ITLS Pediatric continues the training of the Basic and Advanced courses with an emphasis on understanding and responding to trauma in children. The eight-hour course teaches the proper assessment, stabilization and packaging of pediatric trauma patients. It also highlights techniques for communicating with young patients and their parents. Hands-on stations include:

    • Patient assessment and management
    • Airway management and chest decompression
    • Fluid resuscitation
    • Spine motion restriction — pediatric immobilization device

PEPP represents a complete source of prehospital medical information for the emergency care of infants and children. Developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, PEPP is an exciting curriculum designed to teach prehospital professionals how to better assess and manage ill or injured children.

PEPP is a comprehensive, innovative, and highly visual course featuring case-based lectures, live-action video, hands-on skills stations, and small group scenarios.

The Basic Life Support (BLS) course is geared toward the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and the Advanced Life Support (ALS) course is geared toward the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) and Paramedic. The PEPP Course Coordinator should determine which course (BLS or ALS) is most appropriate for an individual. Any health professional who is responsible for the emergency care of children may find this course beneficial.

The American Academy of Pediatric is approved by the Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS). Participants who successfully complete the PEPP Course are eligible to receive continuing education units (CEUs) through CECBEMS. The BLS Hybrid Course provides 8.5 hours of CEUs, and the Onsite Course provides 8 hours. The ALS Hybrid Course provides 12.5 hours, and the ALS Onsite Course provides 14 hours.

This is the Onsite 2-Day Course.
