The ABC’s of Emergencies for Long-Term Care class prepares the student to manage emergencies in general and life-threatening medical emergencies specifically. It also guides the long-term care employee in how to help emergency medical services provide care for residents.

Course Content:
Upon completion the student will have all required CEU’s and updated training to participate in any task force or mutual aid deployment assignment. The student will be able to describe the ambulance task force makeup, have the ability to prepare a personal “go-kit”, understand the tasks to be performed, be aware of safety and home-front issues, solutions and understand how the ambulance task-force integrates will all aspects of disaster response.

The EMS Instructor Course is a 40-hour, 5-day course not eligible for CEU’s. The successful student is given the tools and certification to teach EMS Courses in the State of Missouri at the same level or below the Instructor’s license level.
Homework assignments and complete daily participation, along with successful completion of a final exam are all requirements for this course.

The Lifting and Moving module helps the student understand body mechanics, emergency moves, and proper lifting techniques to maintain wellness and safety not only of the EMS practitioner, but also the patient. Be prepared to practice lifting.
The Communicating With Patients module reviews the major components of the communication process and the various methods for communicating, explains why identification of the care giver is important, and provides examples of how the EMS provider can establish trust with a patient and why this is important to patient care
